US Healthcare Overview
This section should assume very limited knowledge of/interactions with the United States healthcare system. Many CEA employees have not lived in the U.S. for long and have little experience dealing with insurance companies.
It should cover:
- An overview of the system: insurance companies, in-network vs. out-of-network providers, specialists/mental health care, dependents, etc.
- The typical costs associated with seeking care without coverage
- Costs that could easily be overlooked (e.g. ambulance charges)
Determining Your Needs
This section should remind people what to take into account when considering a plan. For example:
- Whether or not you take prescription medication
- How frequently you use urgent care/ER
- Whether or not you may require a specialist
- Whether or not you have dependents you wish to cover
- Whether or not you intend to have a child
- Whether or not you may need long hospital stays/inpatient care
- etc.
